How to Choose the Right Necklace Length for You
The Ultimate Guide to Necklace Lengths
When designing jewelry, I want to make sure I have meaningful pieces that I'll love to wear. The next step is always picking out a chain to go with a new piece, one like the 2mm gold chain. But, how do you even begin to select the right length? No worries because I have this guide to help.
Here is a simple breakdown of the most popular necklace lengths and when to choose each.
If you want a choker or bib-style necklace that rests snugly against the base of your neck, you should go for a 16-inch chain. It's great for almost any situation and outfit, but you must consider the shape of your face and neck. A 16-inch chain is most flattering for oval face shapes and thinner necks.
For a versatile and popular length, you should go for an 18-inch chain. It rests almost perfectly alongside the collarbone and looks excellent with various necklines, outfits, and events. It's the best choice if you are new to necklaces, unsure of my preference, or want a piece of customized jewelry I can wear anywhere and everywhere.
If you have a wider neck or face, a 20-inch chain is a flattering choice that helps elongate your features. It falls just underneath the collarbone and is also a good companion for my favorite oval charms or gemstones.
For a longer matinee necklace style, you should opt for a 24-inch chain. It's more casual than shorter lengths but still offers flexibility in how and where to show it off. It's perfect for more business or formal looks and looks stylish with them.
If you want a necklace that falls in the "opera" category, you should go for a 31-inch chain. It's perfect for tops with high necklines like boat necks and turtlenecks. It's best worn in more elegant and upscale situations and gives an outfit a statement piece that stands out and steals the show.
All in all, when buying custom, hand-stamped jewelry, I want to make sure that you pick something I know I'll always love to wear. It ultimately comes down to my personal preference.
